The only real fear, is fear itself. Fear is what our brains create in order to avoid the painful truth of everyday reality. Fear can have many meanings, each its own to each person. Fear can be directed at an object, like spiders or needles. It can also be the outcome of a certain event, such as presenting in front of a large group of people or heights; fearing you will fall and die. Horror, is an emotional and a physical problem that each person holds deep within their minds and beings. Fear does not go away for most, it is forever living inside of them for their entire life. Though, some do over come fear by confronting it. Fearing, causes us to stall and stay where we are. Fear is what prevents us from moving forward, achieving our dreams and goals. Much like the journey, there are always conflicts that slow the character from achieving their goal.
My topic for this English Tapestry Project is Fear. The other side to fear is courage. I hope to focus my project on the true meanings of fear, as well as over coming said fear using courage and strength. Courage gives us the strength to be individuals who are separate from the crowd, and achieve happiness.
The purpose of my writing is to deepen everyone's perspective and understandings of fear, to create a suspenseful atmosphere. I also hope to see what media and personal connections I can make to fear that will help develop a structure for my tapestry piece. I hope to create a sort of tension, the same tension that fear creates within your mind. I hope to send shivers down my classmates' spines. I would like to figure out how the mine interprets fear then how our bodies react upon our thoughts and feelings of fear.
... Fear is an emotion we all face in our life time. Scared we will never achieve something, scared we will get into trouble within our friend groups, scared we will never really belong anywhere, we are scared to be outcasts. The sad reality behind this concept, is that many are afraid to let their true colors and personality shine because they don't want to be judged, or in some cases, beaten for being different. Our society has drilled into us, even through education systems, that being different isn't the best of things. This is what causes fear; not being accepted into the world as themselves, but as a grey blob society has shaped them to be. A person who is spineless and follows a crowd, never taking that first step to say something out of the ordinary or suggest ideas. There are a selective few, within the crowd that don't take into consideration what people think of them. These people, are courageous people who take the step out of the crowd and suggest something completely wild and irrelevant. These people, have overcome their fears, knowing how they only drag you down. If you let your fears get the best of you, you will wallow in silence and melancholy for the rest of your life. But, if you accept and take a step from fear, and into the outside world, your own world, you shall be limitless...
