Conclusion

...Throughout my tapestry, I have been hoping to inform my classmates on what fear is and how it makes us react to certain things. But, as I went through and weaved together the tapestry, I discovered that fear is much more than that. Fear really is a problem that everyone has faced sometime in their life, there are also people, like me, who still suffer from fear. I have talked about what fear is, what happens, what we fear, but I have never talked about how we can over power fear. It is easy to talk about overpowering it, but in reality, it takes a lot of strength and emotional support as well as courage to even admit that you are afraid of something. For example, I am afraid of being alone because my father hasn't really come back to me, even though I see him every second weekend. It is easy to say "don't be afraid, you'll never be alone," but it is another thing to actually believe what people are telling you, for your brain to trust someone. It takes courage. Something, that I do not have. But, I am always getting one step closer, day by day, whenever I put myself in a situation that seems scary to me. It is scary, to open up to people. It is scary, to try and figure out what you are going to do in the future. It is scary to think about all of the ands, ifs, or buts, that might happen when I am in university and have a job. I am still a kid, and I will  be one for a long time. The fear of growing up, is a huge one, one that I am not alone in fearing.
But, in saying this, without fear, everyone would be in utter chaos with each other. No one would be afraid of hurting another's feelings, fear getting kicked out of school, fired, or scared of death. I think the world is better off with fear, than without it. Fear is a part of us, it makes each of us unique in a way, different from the rest. Yes, it may pose as a problem sometimes when we want to achieve a certain level of success in our lives, but without fear, life would be boring. You wouldn't get the thrill you get on a roller coaster when you go on it, you wouldn't get a rush when driving for the first time and you wouldn't be scared to live life to the fullest. Fear is the human emotion that creates anger, regret, excitement as well as sadness. It is the outcome of surprises that create fear, suspense is a part of fear. Human's would be emotionless and plain, no one would be happy, sad or mad.
Like the Barber in "Just Lather, That's All," if we did not have fear, we would not stall and debate whether or not to kill someone, we would just do it. Torrez would not have seemed like a killer to the Barber, all he would know, was that he wanted Torrez dead; and that he would succeed in killing him no matter the cost. He would not be afraid to be killed for killing another man. In the Hunger Games, Katniss would not have worked so hard to live, if she hadn't feared for her sister's well being if she was dead. " If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear? " (Confucius), if we as human beings didn't have everything to fear, having nothing to fear would seem like a world that is all white. No color, just a blank, bleached white. Each of us would be the same, we wouldn't fear being unique, being different.  We would all, be grey blobs surrounded by a white world.

... I have chosen to close my tapestry with a song, "Rubik's Cube" by Athlete, in order to close the weaving I have done throughout my tapestry project. This song, to me, makes me think of all the things a Rubik's cube does. It had six sides, and it is very complicated to match up, it takes a while for it to work for you. Fear and courage are the same way, you have to work in order to get what you want. For example, Fear jumbles up the colors on each side of the cube. But, as you work at it time and time again, the colors slowly come together, until you get the sense of accomplishment once you have gotten all of the colors to match up. Just like overcoming fear, there are many obstacles that confront you as you try to reach courage. As you work at it, even though it seems the colors are getting more mixed up, over time you'll notice the colors slowly come together. Fear can be overcome by courage, if you are willing to work time and time again to overcome fear, and achieve courage. If you accept the challenge in striving for courage, in the end, you "can figure it out." (Theowllover13)
