Spirited Away (Media Part B) Courage

Spirited Away

Courage, causes you to take in a deep breath and go for it, just as Chihiro had to do. Chihiro was pushed out of her comfort zone and into a new world that at first was quite frightening to her. Firstly, because her parents had been turned into pigs because they had eaten food that was meant for spirits. All humans that enter the "theme park" are usually turned into an animal right away, so that they can be eaten by spirits. Chihiro is then forced to find her way home, when she discovers that the way home is flooded by water. There is no escape for her. Chihiro then starts to fade because she hadn't eaten anything from the world, she also wanted to "go away." Haku, a mysterious male had come and found her, helping her to "reappear" by feeding her a berry from his world. He then shows Chihiro where to go in order to see the boiler man, Kamaji, who would give her work so that Yubaba couldn't turn her into an animal. But, Kamaji forces Chihiro to sign a contract, but to do that, she has to go to Yubaba, the "head honcho" of the bath house. Yubaba is a very scary woman to Chihiro, as she shows great strength. Chihiro also fears that Yubaba will turn her into a pig and end up like her parents. But, Yubaba accepted to hire her as long as she kept up with the work. Chihiro was very happy and was assigned to a young lady named 'Rin.' Rin at first, was very cold and mean to Chihiro because she was a human and she found looking after her to be annoying and a waste of time. But, by the end of the film Rin warmed up to Chihiro.
...This film is a representation of the other side of my tapestry, Courage. Throughout my tapestry I have been discussing how fear causes us to stop us from achieving goals and moving forward. But, courage on the other hand causes us to push through the scary times and put your foot in the door, so that you can move on with what goals and achievements you wanted to. Courage, just as fear, is a feeling that creates physical responses and how we should react in a different situation. This always depends on what side you are on. Chihiro shows courage through out this movie, as she strives to discover Haku's real name as well as find out a way to turn her parents back to their human forms. Chihiro faces many obstacles that at first, scare the living daylights out of her. For example, during the movie Chihiro meets a character named "No-face," who at first, was very friendly to Chihiro. But, when No-Face entered the bath house, he began to force gifts upon Chihiro, which she politely declined. No-Face, did not like that answer and went biserk, eating members of staff that worked at the bath house, before coming after Chihiro. Chihiro, was then forced by Yubaba to confront No-Face of his doings, which took a lot of courage as No-Face could eat her if she said the wrong things. Chihiro finally, has to muster up enough courage to leave the bath house, and journey into the unknown to find a way home. She built her dike of courage, in order to be free from the unknown world she was trapped in...
