Poetry - Courage
" Courage "
- Corey Fauchon
Courage is what makes us
Courage is what divides us
Courage is what drives us
Courage is what stops us
Courage creates news
Courage demands more
Courage creates blame
Courage brings shame
Courage shows in school
Courage determines the cool
Courage divides the weak
Courage pours out like a leak
Courage puts us on a knee
Courage makes us free
Courage makes us plea
Courage helps us flee
... In the poem "Courage" by Corey Fauchon, courage has been displayed
and portrayed as a positive emotion and motive towards certain
situations. Sometimes, it is best to ignore what is going on around you,
to break out of your old habits and try something that will better your
understanding about how you should judge other people. The world is a
sick place, everyone judges each other by their sex, race, what they
wear, how they style their hair and who they hang out with. Courage is
not caring what others thing, courage is standing up to people who are
talking about you in a negative way and courage is building from these
experiences to move forward in your life, be stronger. Courage also
"creates blame" (Fauchon, 7), which is the ability to accept that
nothing is perfect around you, everything hides behind a mask of smiles
and contentment, when really, things aren't at all as they seem. Courage
is being human, courage is living. Courage breaks fear. Much like the quote by Martin Luther King Jr, we must decide when to build the bridge that will save us from fear because, "Courage makes
us free." ( Fauchon , 14 )...
