Quotation # 2 - Fear - Reflection
" If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear? "
- Confucius
...Everything. There are things that have yet to occur that scare us. Things that we secretly fear to happen, things that we despise. But, things that we crave to achieve. Things that give us rushes of adrenaline, things that change our actions to avoid fear. If humans were to fear every living things, including other human beings, no one would get alone and we would all be in utter chaos. No one would trust each other, no one would leave their houses to explore the world of all its' wonders. Earth would be a very lonely planet, none of us would be able to survive with all the fears in the world.
Even though there is nothing in our hearts to fear, it is all in our head. Everyone over thinks things, and this in turn causes fear to materialize within us and causes us to react the way we do. If we clear our minds of doubt in our abilities and safety, we would all live better, stress-free lives.
Confucius represented many of these. He was a man of knowledge and rules, living by the golden rule in order to achieve his goals and lead people in the right direction. He also lived by the "Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself," Golden rule throughout his life. He shared this rule with many, it is followed by some people still to this day. But, he was also a man of power as well as logic, the brute honesty as well as his power over people, stuck fear as well as comfort within his followers...
